I've also heard the 666 thing explained this way. Since the Lord taught us how to honor the Sabbath, which is the 7th day of the week, then the children of God show that they are Christians by honoring this day. Satan is not able to honor the Sabbath, and thus he is stuck in the 6th day, hence 666... forever without rest or peace. As followers of God we do have rest and peace in Christ by honoring the Sabbath, and we step out of the worldly way of operating into a spiritual day of worship, rest, and spending time with our family. This is our sign, whereas those that do not honor the Sabbath, the 7th day, are marked with 666... as is Satan, forever working, stuck in "worldly concepts," and never having the peace of God. So not so much the number being relevant, but a sign of who we choose to follow. I thought this was an interesting take on the subject.

Thanks Sparrowman for having the courage to stand up and publicize this wonderful but sometimes highly criticized pharmaceutical product! Yes yes, I’ve heard all the side affect and symptom arguments associated with this product, but the benefits simply can’t be ignored. I give the product a ringing endorsement, and can say with confidence that you will benefit from it too! You may need help from your liquor store attendant to determine the right level that will be most beneficial for you. For a quick fix in situations such as preparing for that first date or interacting with your spouse, perhaps a shot or two might do the trick. For larger life stressors such as dealing with your hyperactive boss or preparing for that company party, especially when you hate all your co-workers, you might need higher doses. It has been documented that the side-effects run in negative correlation with the amount of the product taken, but when balancing out your many inadequacies, large doses are well worth the risk. A bottle or so have been known to perform miracles for people! If this product does not sit well with you, or if the taste isn’t to your liking, again you may want to have a little chat with your liquor store attendant to see if there is a similar product that will better suite your style and taste. So get out there and purchase Tequila®, the new “wonder drug”!!!

Wow! That's really hot mental pornography! Thankfully Zen is helping me overcome my addiction. I can't grok any kind of "Ideal World of Ideas." I mean I understand the concept, but can't see any reality in it. Chair was born when the first human sat his or her ass on something.

You can't truly know yourself through ideas. You'll create a mental construct that you think defines you, but it won't really. Spend time not thinking intentionally, just simply being aware. Who are you then?

So good to hear from you ZenBuddy! I'm really looking forward to reading more on your blog.

I think it was Plato or Aristotle that said something like "The real world is not the Real world; the Ideal world IS the Real world." His thoughts seem more religion than philosophy and Christianity found it a nice bedfellow. Anyway, it was only due to the Ideal world that we have any sense of anything real. For instance, we have all varied kinds of chairs, but where does the idea of chair come from? In the Ideal world we have the ideal forms from which "chair-ness" springs. I think I got it kinda right.

Yes, I get into this usually at night in the privacy of my own home. Oh, to only have a centerfold of existential phenomenological word origins before me! That would help so much. Oh yeah!
